Marie-Jean Meurs is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), and a member of the LATECE laboratory. As a researcher in artificial intelligence, her goal is to create and apply elegant mathematical algorithms to knowledge discovery problems. Among her fields of interest are machine learning, big data mining, natural language processing, semantic web, biocuration, and combinatorial optimization. She is the coordinator of the HumanIA research groupe for humanistic and multidisciplinary studies and research on artificial intelligence, which she cofounded in 2017.

She is also a member of the Centre for Structural and Functional Genomics, Concordia University, and an Affiliate Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Concordia University.
