Stefanie Haustein

Stefanie Haustein is an assistant professor at the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies, at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on scholarly communication, bibliometrics, altmetrics and open science and analyzes the role of social media in academia.

Stefanie is co-director of the #ScholCommLab, a research group that analyzes all aspects of scholarly communication in the digital age, together with Juan Pablo Alperin at Simon Frasier University in Vancouver, Canada. She is also an associate member of the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie (CIRST) and an affiliated researcher of the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication, Université de Montréal and the Observatoire des sciences et des technologies (OST), Université du Québec à Montréal.

Stefanie holds a Master’s degree in history, American linguistics and literature and information science and a PhD in information science from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Germany. Stefanie completed postdoctoral work at the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication at Université de Montréal. I have worked as a research analyst at Science-Metrix, Canada and Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany.
